The University for the Future Initiative is an international and intergenerational network of change-makers. We share the understanding that today a new model of higher education is needed and that together we have the power to co-create such a new model, an actual University for the Future.
We do not imagine The University for the Future as a single organisation in one location. Rather, the U4F is meant to become a system of transformative organisations and individuals deploying their initiatives, programmes, projects, events and services in and across a growing number of places and local communities.
One of the guiding ideas for creating the University for the Future is to coalesce small, leading edge organisations focused on educational and social innovation that already exist in many places. The goal is to leverage and synergise their potential beyond the threshold required for a system innovation in higher education.
We believe that this is possible through a ‘holographic organisation’ which can organically spread and scale, but which never grows beyond human scale on the local level. We have started this process by creating the Alliance for the Future and by working on the development of local showcases.
The informal network of the University for the Future Initiative and the formal organisation of the Alliance for the Future complement each other. The University for the Future Initiative fuels the development of the Alliance for the Future, but does not govern the organisation. In return, the Alliance for the Future hosts the University for the Future Initiative, but does not govern it either.
Information about how you can contribute to the Initiative and the Alliance can be found here.
